This way of filtration is a general description of different kinds of water treatment:
- Reverse Osmosis
The size of the pores and the physical properties of the material present in the water, determine what will flow through and what remains. Microfiltration and Ultrafiltration only keep out the bigger parts, so more water runs through. On the other hand Nanofiltration and Reverse Osmosis (RO) also clean out the smallest parts. The membrane is developed to only let the clean water molecules run through the filter, while the bigger or chemical parts remain. Therefore you also lose the valuable minerals of the water.
